Menu Editor - Validation and Warning Messages
A number of validation messages and warnings may be displayed if there are errors in the menu.
Message text is displayed in yellow at the top of the Menu Editor.
When a validation or warning message concerns a file, it is also highlighted in red within the menu tree.
Validation messages must be resolved before you can save the menu. However, warning messages are for information only and do not stop you from saving the menu.
Typical validation and warning messages
Type | Message | Comments |
Warning. | A link has been made to a published html file that does not exist. | For this message to appear, a URL, starting with ../html/, specifies a file that does not exist in the site's Catalogue.xml file.
| Validation | The maximum number of items has been exceeded. | This occurs when the configuration includes an upper limit for menu items for a level, and too many have been added to that level for a particular branch. When the maximum items has been exceeded, other validation messages below will not be displayed for those items exceeding the limit. |
Validation | Missing a photo, which is required at level x | This occurs when no Photo has been chosen for a menu item in a configuration where it is mandatory. |
Validation | Missing a position, which is required at level x. | This occurs when the configuration uses Reference Positioning for a level but no position value has been set. |
Validation | The position 'x' exists multiple times at the same level within the same branch. | This occurs when the configuration uses Reference Positioning and the same Position has been set at least twice. |
